Energy reliability as a public health input

A rural health facility without dependable power is a building, not a functioning health system. Energy access sits upstream of most public health outcomes it enables.

Utility solar installation in Southern Africa

Vaccine cold chain, emergency lighting, and water pumping and purification are all downstream of power that does not fail. In several of the markets where we work, the sequencing of energy infrastructure investment determines what level of public health investment becomes feasible in the years that follow, not the other way around.

This is the clearest instance of the multiplier effect our systems diagnostic is built to find: a single power and storage installation that strengthens energy, water, and health outcomes simultaneously, rather than three separate projects competing for the same limited capital.
